Grants for writers

How the Writers Grant Works

A £1,000 creative writing grant is awarded every two months to a selected writer, wherever you live — from the UK to anywhere in the world.

Apply through the official form with your details, writing background and how the grant would help. Aspiring and established writers are both welcome.

The successful recipient will be contacted directly and may be featured across Keep The Dream Alive and Xhale platforms.

Paying the application fee does not guarantee that an applicant will receive the grant. Being an Xhale Global member also does not guarantee that a member will receive the grant.

Applying

Choose How You Want to Apply

Option 1

One Off Application: £20

Pay a £20 non-refundable application fee to submit an application for one grant round.

If you are not an active Xhale Global member and you want to apply again for another grant round, you would pay the £20 application fee again.

Option 2

KTDA Membership: £15 per month

£15 per month. Apply once and your application is automatically entered into every grant cycle while your membership remains active. You do not need to reapply for each round.

Membership also provides access to:

  • •Xhale Global Community
  • •Writers' chat
  • •Writing opportunities
  • •Events
  • •Community activities
  • •Other Xhale member benefits

Important

  • Membership does not guarantee the £1,000 grant.
  • Your original application is carried forward automatically to each new grant cycle — only while your £15 membership payment is active. A £20 one-off application covers one grant cycle only.
  • Members are assessed through the same grant selection process.
  • If a member cancels their membership, or their membership is no longer active, their free grant application access ends. They can still apply by paying the £20 one-off application fee.
